BCD Travel Supports Wishes in Flight

Travelers may donate unused miles to sick children

teaser

As part of onboard, its corporate social responsibility effort, BCD Travel is supporting Wishes in Flight®, a program of Make-A-Wish® America that collects airline reward miles for use by children with life-threatening medical conditions and their families.

Last year, more than 13,800 kids had their lives changed by a Make-A-Wish experience. And 70 percent of those wishes involved travel. This year, the organization needs more than 2.5 billion miles — enough for 50,000 round-trip tickets.

“This mission moves me personally; I can’t imagine any group more deserving of our kindness and compassion than children with life-threatening medical conditions,” said Mike Janssen, president of BCD Travel’s Americas region. “Many of us who travel on business collect reward miles that we’re very unlikely to cash in for ourselves. Through the Wishes in Flight program, we can donate those miles to Make-A-Wish, where they can help grant a life-changing wish for a sick child.”

Participating airline reward programs include Delta Air Lines SkyMiles, United Airlines Mileage Plus and US Airways Dividend Miles. There also are opportunities to contribute with transferable airline vouchers or tickets.

Those interested in donating may visit the Wishes in Flight program application page and fill out the donation form. Completing the form takes only minutes. Those with questions about the program may call 1-800-722-WISH (1-800-722-9474) for more information. The Make-A-Wish website includes information about the 32-year-old organization that enriches not only the lives of children and their families, but often entire communities.
